Tottenham Hotspur face Brighton on Wednesday night at Wembley in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to reshuffle his side with a huge trip to Man City on Sunday – and fans want him to start Erik Lamela.

Spurs travel to the Etihad on Sunday in what could make or break their thin Premier League title hopes, and that should convince Pochettino to rest a number of his first-team stars.

Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min all shone in attacking midfield on Saturday as the north Londoners easily dispatched Stoke City 5-1, thanks to goals from Son, Eriksen, a Harry Kane brace and a Ryan Shawcross own goal.

Now, Spurs go up against former Tottenham Hotspur player Chris Hughton and his Brighton side at Wembley with the task of maintaining some momentum following two draws and two losses prior to Saturday’s huge win.

Lamela, 25, has featured three times since returning from a double hip injury that kept him on the sidelines for more than a year, and has impressed in substitute appearances against Watford, Leicester and Stoke, clicking up 49 minutes of first-team action.

Now, fans want him to make his first start since first picking up the injury in October 2016, with one fan even going as far as saying it would “literally make my year” if the Argentina international was handed a starting spot.
