Some Tottenham Hotspur fans believe that Hugo Lloris’ successor was down the other end of the pitch at the weekend.

Tottenham fans have been discussing whether Spurs should target Jack Butland at the end of the season after Hugo Lloris dropped a clanger during Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s win over Stoke at the weekend.
Lloris endured something of a nightmare afternoon for Tottenham at the bet365 Stadium, gifting the home side their goal and often looking suspect when he was called into action in a game that Spurs would go on to win 2-1 to extend their run of consecutive victories in the Premier League to six.

The Frenchman has been a superb servant since his £11.9 million move in 2012 – fee reported by The Independent – but his form has been a concern this season. Amongst the host of brilliant saves he has made, there have been a number of mistakes that have threatened to prove costly – luckily, on Saturday, it did not.
And unfortunately for Lloris, it appears that some Spurs fans are now keen to see the 31-year-old replaced by the man who stood at the other end of the pitch in their most recent game.

Butland has been a rare shining light for Stoke this season and it seems highly unlikely that he will find himself at the club next year with relegation to the Championship looking quite possible at this stage.
The Daily Mirror reported in March that Liverpool were closing in on a £40 million move for the stopper ahead of the summer, but a number of Tottenham fans feel that he could develop significantly under Pochettino and eventually succeed Lloris as Spurs’ number one.
