Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 at home to Ajax on Tuesday night.

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of reaching the Champions League final were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday night as they lost 1-0 at home to Ajax.
Spurs went into the game having lost their first game at their new stadium on Saturday, falling to a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United – and the same thing happened last night.
Ajax were sensational in the first half, grasping full control of the game, and took the lead from a well-worked move as Donny van de Beek broke into the box with all the time in the world, and he finished past Hugo Lloris.
Spurs – without Harry Kane and Son Heung-min – couldn’t break Ajax down in the second half despite improving, and Ajax almost made it 2-0 late on as David Neres rattled the post.
Tottenham must now head to Amsterdam and attempt to overturn this deficit, which will be a huge challenge given how impressive Ajax have been in the Champions League this season.
Much of the attention has been on Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong, but it was another Dutch youngster who stole the show on Tuesday as Van de Beek grabbed the winner, and impressed throughout.

FC Inter News claimed just days ago that Spurs want to sign Van de Beek in a big-money move, challenging Inter for the 22-year-old’s signature after 15 goals and 11 assists this season.
A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to call for Van de Beek to be signed this summer, with some feeling that they need to be quick before people notice he’s better than Barcelona-bound De Jong.
Some think he’s worth whatever Ajax want, simply telling Spurs to make sure that he’s signed up this summer.
