Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of winning the FA Cup ended with their semi-final defeat to Manchester United on Saturday evening, and Mauricio Pochettino now faces a huge transfer window.

Spurs have now gone more than 10 years without winning a trophy, and whilst Pochettino has done admirable work with young players at Tottenham, he must now look to replace some of his veterans.

Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele looks to be slowing down in some ways, and with just over a year left on his contract, it may be important for Spurs to find a successor in midfield.

Many believe that the 30-year-old will be difficult to replace, as his drive and athleticism through midfield has been key to Tottenham’s impressive development in recent years – but fans think they’ve found a replacement.

Tanguy Ndombele has spent this season on loan at Lyon from French rivals Amiens, and having hit one goal and seven assists this season, Lyon are set to activate a permanent clause in his loan – but they may be tempted to sell him on.

The 21-year-old has the attributes Spurs are looking for as a Dembele replacement, and Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that a summer deal must be done for the Frenchman.

Fans think that Ndombele is massively similar to Dembele and should be snapped up this summer, even if supporters don’t think Spurs will be able to tie up a deal for the midfielder given their lack of faith in Tottenham’s transfer activity.
