The Spurs striker has left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to link up with the Mexican side and reigning CONCACAF Champions League champions.
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Vincent Janssen has left the Premier League club to join Mexican side CF Monterrey.
The Spurs official website announced on Tuesday night that agreement had been reached with the reigning CONCACAF Champions League champions (ESPN) over the 25-year-old’s transfer.
Though the fee has not been disclosed by Tottenham, Sky Sports News has claimed that Monterrey are paying Tottenham £8million for the deal.
Janssen, a Netherlands international, joined Spurs from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth £17million according to BBC Sport.
Prior to his switch to Tottenham, he was was the top scorer in the Dutch top flight in his only season for AZ, where he won the Dutch Player of the Year award.
However, he has failed to make much of an impact at the north London club, claiming just six goals and four assists in 42 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Indeed, Janssen made just three first-team appearances last term, all league cameos less than 15 minutes each, and did not make a single start (Transfermarkt).
