A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Victor Wanyama’s performance in Spurs’ League Cup exit at the hands of Colchester United last night.

After the game had finished goalless, despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side having had 19 attempts at goal, Spurs duo Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura failed to convert their opportunities from the penalty spot, and Colchester went on to win 4-3 on penalties.

Wanyama made his first appearance of the season in the loss to Leicester City at the weekend, coming on as a substitute, and he gave the ball away in the lead up to the Foxes’ equaliser, as well as getting booked for a body check on Ricardo Pereira and being slow in closing down James Maddison for the Foxes‘ winner.

Pochettino utilised the midfielder from the off against the U’s and once again he flattered to deceive, looking rusty in the first half and sloppy in possession on numerous occasions, and after the game, some Tottenham fans were critical of the player.

Here is some of the social media reaction to Wanyama’s display:

Wanyama joined Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2016 for a £11million fee (BBC Sport) and he has made close to 100 appearances for Pochettino’s side.
