Spurs U23s fell to defeat in their Premier League 2 game on Friday after taking the lead – some Tottenham fans joked that they’re learning from the seniors.
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan the Spurs Under-23s 4-1 loss away at Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night (Brighton website).
The young Spurs took the lead in the 27th minute as Rodel Richards cut in off the left flank, opened up his body and sent a side-footed finish beyond Seagulls goalkeeper Hugo Keto.
However, the hosts regained parity before the break through Ryan Longman, whose effort took a big deflection and sailed past a helpless Tottenham stopper Jonathan De Bie into the net.
Things went south for Tottenham after the interval as Danny Cashman, another strike from Longman and a goal from Lorent Tolaj condemned the North London side to a heavy defeat.
The result continues a poor run for Wayne Burnett’s young Spurs side, who had fallen to a 4-0 defeat by Blackburn Rovers U23s on Monday and are winless this month (Spurs website).
With things going poorly for the senior Tottenham team at present, the U23s result compounded yet more misery for the Spurs faithful, some of whom made their feelings clear on social media.
