Tottenham have published their 2019-20 squad numbers list and some Spurs fans are hoping two notable vacancies could hold clues for future new signings.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the club announcing the final squad numbers for the 2019-20 season (official Spurs website).
The majority of numbers are unchanged from the year before, with the only real point of note being Oliver Skipp “upgraded” from number 52 to number 29, previously worn by the likes of Harry Winks, Etienne Capoue, Jake Livermore, Philip Ifil and Simon Davies (Transfermarkt).
A number of academy graduates have also been allocated first-team squad numbers for the first time, such as Japhet Tanganga, George Marsh, Alfie Whiteman, Anthony Georgiou, TJ Eyoma, Jamie Bowden, Jack Roles, Brandon Austin, Troy Parrott and Harvey White.
Summer arrivals Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon, and Tanguy Ndombele have been issued with numbers 18, 19, and 28 respectively, the announcements made at the time of each signing, while numbers 2 and 9 remain vacant, the former previously allocated to Kieran Trippier and the latter to Vincent Janssen.
Much of the Tottenham fans’ conversation on social media revolved around Skipp’s upgrade, Parrott’s high number, and who could be in line to get the 2 and 11:
Spurs get their Premier League season under way on Saturday with a 5:30pm kickoff against top-flight new-boys Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
