The Tottenham academy prodigy scored the winner on his Eire U21s debut but some Spurs fans were also impressed by the Brighton man’s superb assist.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Troy Parrott’s match-winning performance as Republic of Ireland Under-21s defeated their Armenia counterparts 1-0 in Tallaght – while the teammate who provided the assist also drew considerable attention.
The 17-year-old Spurs academy prodigy opened his account in the 31st minute, finishing off a slick team move as Brighton winger Aaron Connolly made the most of lacklustre defending to provide the assist for his teammate delayed run into the box and subsequent strike.
It proved crucial in the end as no more goals would come for either side and the result leaves Stephen Kenny’s side top of Euro 2021 qualifying Group One, having won their opening two fixtures.
The game marked another key milestone in Parrott’s upward trajectory, having seen his stock rise in recent weeks, culminating in him being named by Mauricio Pochettino in Tottenham’s Champions League squad for the group stages earlier this week.
Tottenham’s Twitter account proudly showed off their player’s goal, including the build-up, by sharing Eir Sport’s official match footage:
Here is what some Spurs fans wrote in response on the social media platform – both regarding their player and his compatriot:
Connolly joined Brighton on trial in 2017, impressing enough for the club to offer him a two-year scholarship with the under-18 side, but he soon worked his way up the ranks and is now contracted to the Seagulls until 2022 (Transfermarkt).
The 19-year-old scored his first senior goal in a 2-1 away win over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup in August and made his league debut four days later, coming on as a substitute for Neal Maupay in the 66th minute of a 4-0 defeat away to Manchester City.
