Spurs had been linked with the Canaries right-back in recent weeks.

Max Aarons of Norwich salutes the fans after the Sky Bet Championship match between Norwich City and Hull City at Carrow Road on March 13, 2019 in Norwich, England.

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Norwich City right-back Max Aarons has signed a new deal at Carrow Road.

According to a Football.London report from 30 June, Spurs were interested in making a move for the highly rated 19-year-old as a potential replacement for Kieran Trippier.

As it turned out, Trippier will indeed be departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as agreement was officially reached with Atletico Madrid for the 28-year-old’s move to the Spanish capital.

Just an hour after the Lilywhites made the announcement on Thursday, however, the Canaries confirmed on their Twitter feed that Aarons had penned a new five-year contract with the Premier League new-boys.

Here is what some Spurs fans on the social media platform made of the news:

Aarons enjoyed a great breakthrough season with the Canaries in 2018-19, making 41 appearances in the Championship (Transfermarkt) as Daniel Farke’s charges won the title ahead of Sheffield United and Leeds United.

The full-back was also named the EFL Young Player of the Season and was included in the PFA Championship team of the year as part of the Canaries’ title-winning side of 2018-19.
