The Spurs midfield ace is in the squad for Denmark’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, the first game coming less than a week after the Champions League final.

Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has been included in Denmark’s latest squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Danes, who famously won the competition in 1992, host the Republic of Ireland on Friday 7 June before taking on Georgia, also at Copenhagen’s Telia Parken stadium, three days later.

The fixture against Ireland takes place just six days after Eriksen and his Tottenham teammates face fellow Premier League side Liverpool in the Champions League final at Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Here is some of the Tottenham fans’ reaction to the news, which was shared by the Spurs Twitter page:

Although Spurs are keen to retain Eriksen’s services, they have been unable to tie the 27-year-old to a new contract, with his existing deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to expire in 2020.

As a result, there is plenty of speculation over the Dane’s future currently doing the rounds, as he is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with European clubs next January, while Real Madrid continue to be linked with him, as has been reported in the Metro.
