Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier is indeed currently on the radar of Serie A side Napoli, their manager boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted.

A month ago, esteemed Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio posted on his website that the Partenopei are looking to bolster their ranks for next season following their Europa League exit.

The report went on to say that Napoli are eager to give Ancelotti more options on the wings and, as such, have made an inquiry for Trippier, while Premier League side Manchester United are also mulling over a move for the player.

The England right-back has struggled to recapture his best form for Spurs this season after his exploits at the World Cup, while Lilywhites manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he wants to “rebuild” his squad this summer – and says it will be “painful”.

In his pre-match press conference, ahead of Napoli’s Serie A clash with Cagliari on Sunday, Ancelotti is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: “All I can say is that they’re both [Trippier and Hirving Lozano] players we’re evaluating.

“So, to be honest, I can only confirm our appreciation of the player. Now we have to start proceeding with the analysis.”

Here is how some Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the speculation:

Trippier signed for Tottenham for £3.5million after Burnley were relegated in 2015 and has made over 100 appearances for Poch’s side since, establishing himself as first-choice right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City (Sky Sports).
