It’s business as usual for the Spurs defender amid transfer speculation linking him with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld may have been linked with a move away from North London for a while now but it is very much business as usual for him, as per his latest Twitter post.
The 30-year-old’s contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium lasts until the summer of 2020 but there is a clause within it whereby, if a £25million bid for his services comes before 26 July, Spurs cannot turn it down.
However, this summer has been relatively quiet on the transfer rumour front for Alderweireld – at least more so than last year – with Manchester United’s prior alleged interest in him appearing to have cooled down and Italian side Roma getting the most column inches regarding interest in the Belgian’s services.
With Alderweireld having been picked by Mauricio Pochettino for Tottenham’s Asia tour – surely the Argentine would not have done so were he certainly set to leave – and Roma reportedly unable to meet the £25million buyout figure alone (The Mirror), there is increasing hope that the centre-back may not go after all.
Ahead of Sunday’s International Champions Cup (ICC) opener against Juventus in Singapore, Alderweireld tweeted the following:
Some of the Lilywhites faithful once again made a call for him to stay at the club, showing him how much he is valued by the fanbase:
Alderweireld, who earns £80,000 per week at Spurs (Spotrac), joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2015 for a fee believed to be worth £11.5million, according to the Telegraph, and he has gone on to make 159 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
