Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Son Heung-min back to training on Monday… but the didn’t look all that thrilled to be back in North London.
New manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been working with a smaller pool of players due to international commitments this summer, with a number of players resting after Euro 2020.
In Son’s case, he has been in Asia playing World Cup qualifiers with South Korea, but is now back in England ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 29-year-old smashed 17 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League last season, so he should be a key player under new boss Nuno.
Nuno now has a chance to work with Son closely on the training ground after a couple of weeks without him, but fans have been left a little worried.
Tottenham posted a video of Son arriving at Hotspur Way, but he looked a little glum as he came through the revolving door, leaving fans fearing that the winger is ‘broken’.
Some supporters took to Twitter to suggest that Son looked ‘crestfallen’, ‘completely dejected’ and ‘absolutely devastated’ to be back with Tottenham.
A few fans even feel that Son doesn’t want to be there at all amid fears over Harry Kane, which feels like a leap from a short video clip.
Tottenham seemingly read many of these replies, and hit back with another clip of Son, this time celebrating wildly in training.
They accompanied that with just five words, stating ‘All smiles at Hotspur Way’, so nothing to worry about… unless the saga surrounding Son’s new contract drags on much longer.
