Tottenham Hotspur bagged the three points that guarantees a top four finish in the Premier League.
Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Moussa Sissoko’s display during their 1-0 win over Newcastle which guarantees that Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be playing Champions League football again next year.
Tottenham were not at their best at Wembley but ensured that the Magpies go into the final day off the back of a run of four straight defeats as Harry Kane scored the game’s only goal with a very nice finish from the edge of the box.
With Chelsea drawing at home to Huddersfield, Spurs are guaranteed to finish in the top four in the Premier League. But based on the display against Newcastle, it appears that there may be plenty of work for Pochettino to do over the summer – and one of the items that the fans want addressed is the situation surrounding Sissoko.
The Frenchman played the full 90 minutes in a holding midfield position, and while there was some praise for his display, the majority of Spurs supporters on social media seemed less than impressed by Sissoko – who currently earns £80,000-a-week, according to Spotrac.
Some of the fans on Twitter suggested that they want to see the 28-year-old sold at the end of the season as they remain convinced that he is not good enough to feature prominently for a Tottenham side that is looking to battle on four fronts.
It must be mentioned that not all of the fans were disappointed by Sissoko’s performance, but it appears that a large section of the Spurs faithful are keeping their fingers crossed that another club makes a bid for the former Newcastle ace in the summer.
