Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react to Fernando Llorente’s display during their FA Cup win over Wimbledon on Sunday, and it appears that many would not mind if the game proved to be the Spaniard’s final appearance for the club.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men booked their place in the fourth round as they thrashed the Dons 3-0 at Wembley thanks to a brace from Harry Kane and a deflected long-range effort from Jan Vertonghen.
It was not easy going for Spurs however, as the first goal did not come until after the hour-mark, and that was despite Pochettino picking both Kane and Llorente in the starting lineup.
Unfortunately for the latter – who has endured a difficult time since arriving from Swansea City for £14 million in the summer (via Guardian) – all three of the goals came once he had been replaced, and that has certainly not helped his cause trying to win the Tottenham fans over.
The 32-year-old has scored just two goals for Spurs – and one of those should have been disallowed for offside – and his latest performance has attracted a lot of criticism from the Tottenham fans.
Many are questioning the club’s decision to sign him in the first place, while others on social media even believe that he should not play for Tottenham again after failing to make a positive impact against the League One side.
