According to the Guardian, Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis have injected £150m into the transfer war-chest for Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
The Italian is hoping to strengthen his squad significantly after securing Champions League football for next season, and he will now have the opportunity to do so.
However, while this seems to be good news initially, there is a reason for Spurs fans to be worried – five reasons, in fact.
What’s the story?
Well, the last time Conte had funds like these to play with, he made a bit of a mess out of it – along with Chelsea’s Technical Director Michael Emenalo.
Back in 2017, Roman Abramovich backed Conte heavily, giving him nearly £200m to spend on new additions.
However, the 52-year-old ended up signing Alvaro Morata for £60m, Tiemoue Bakayoko for £40m, Danny Drinkwater for £35m, Davide Zappacosta for £23m and Emerson Palmieri for £18m.

In total, Conte spent £176m on these five players, with none going on to become significant figures for Chelsea.
In our view, that should concern Tottenham fans, although hopefully, the Italian has learned from his mistakes.
Tottenham will surely spend their £150m wisely
In our view, we believe Tottenham will spend the money smartly, mainly due to the presence of Fabio Paratici alongside Conte.
The pair have already proven that they have an eye for a player when working together, as seen in the success of Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur.
In fairness to Conte, Chelsea have a track record of being rather careless with their money, so he surely wasn’t the only one at fault there.

However, this represents a huge opportunity for Spurs, and it cannot be messed up.
Tottenham were on the verge of competing with Liverpool and Manchester City in 2019, but ended up going backwards as the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Jack Clarke, Steven Bergwijn and Tanguy Ndombele arrived and failed.
The recruitment was all wrong that summer, and it has taken until now for Tottenham to move on from those transfer failures.
Now, Conte cannot afford to make the same errors.
