Tottenham Hotspur finished their Premier League campaign with a 2-2 draw at their new stadium on Sunday.
Plenty of Spurs fans have responded to Kyle Walker-Peters’ tweet following Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s 2-2 draw with Everton on Sunday – with many suggesting that the window is open for the youngster to push his way up the pecking order at right-back.
With a Champions League final ahead in a few weeks, it was little surprise that Pochettino made some changes and included a number of young players within his 18-man matchday squad on the final day of the Premier League season.
And the game got off to the perfect start as Eric Dier gave the home side the lead inside three minutes. But, in a week in which Tottenham produced the most outrageous comeback to book their spot in Madrid, Everton threatened to come from behind to nab the three points as they went 2-1 in front.
But Christian Eriksen scored with 15 minutes remaining to ensure that Spurs ended their league campaign with a draw. For Walker-Peters, it may have been an opportunity to force his way into Pochettino’s selection thinking ahead of the Champions League final.
It would be a surprise if Kieran Trippier did not start against Liverpool, but his form this season has definitely been disappointing. However, Walker-Peters probably needed to show more if he hoped to convince Pochettino to spring a selection surprise.
He was impressive on Sunday however, and there are several Spurs fans who have suggested that Walker-Peters should get the nod as first-choice moving forward.
