Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe that Fernando Llorente is on borrowed time in North London.

The Spurs striker hasn’t kicked a ball under Mauricio Pochettino in over a month, following a 15-minute cameo over PSV in a Champions League win at Wembley.

Llorente has been an unused substitution on five different occasions since then, but he was conspicuous by his absence in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Leicester City.

Pochettino left the Spaniard out of the squad entirely, a decision made all the more mysterious by virtue of the fact that Harry Kane was left out of the first XI.

If the Argentine manager envisaged a future for Llorente, he would’ve started against the Foxes last night and some Tottenham fans are putting two and two together.

The former Swansea and Juventus hitman set Spurs back some £12 million [Sky Sports] in the summer of 2017, but he hasn’t proven himself a good investment at all.

Llorente has only managed six goals in 37 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites – and just one of those was in the Premier League.

It can’t be easy playing second fiddle to a hitman like Harry Kane, but he is still nowhere near the adequate cover striker that Pochettino needs and a January exit is probably best for all parties.
