Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-23s came from a goal down to record their first Premier League 2 win of 2019 with a 2-1 defeat of Leicester City on Friday night.

The Foxes drew first blood at Holmes Park thanks to Khanya Leshabela’s goal from the edge of the Spurs box in the 20th minute of the game.

Tottenham were still a goal down at the break but there was already an improvement thanks to the substitution of Jack Roles, who came on in the 34th minute.

Not long after the restart, the 20-year-old more than justified his introduction as he drew the Lilywhites level by slotting the ball beyond the Leicester keeper from close range.

Already boasting an impressive performance, Roles then became the match winner as he found the ball played at his feet and, from just a few yards out, would make no mistake.

Some Spurs fans took to Twitter after the game, commenting on the official account’s full-time update and to Roles’ own post-match tweet:

According to the official Spurs website, Roles has a knack of arriving late in the box and scoring goals, and made the permanent step up to Under-23 level in 2017-18.
