The Tottenham Hotspur forward will spend this season on loan in Turkey.

When Tottenham Hotspur signed Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar, they were hoping he was destined to be more Ruud van Nistelrooy thann Afonso Alves.
The truth is, he is somewhere in between, although his struggles during his debut campaign at White Hart Lane seemingly made up Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino’s mind.

Made available for transfer this summer, even before a late switch saw Fernando Llorente sign for Spurs, Janssen saw out the window in North London before completing a loan move to Turkish side Fenerbahce when it became clear he would hardly feature at his parent club.
Unsurprisingly given the way football works, Janssen wasted little time impressing at his new temporary home, scoring on his debut against Alanyaspor with just 16 minutes on the clock and helping Fenerbahce on their way to a 4-1 victory.

Tottenham fans who watched Janssen struggle for much of last season will know that strike only tells part of the story. And yet this is a player who scored for fun in the Netherlands, does the same for his country and is still only 23.
