Are Tottenham Hotspur in for another saga involving Toby Alderweireld?

“I will play for Spurs next season.”
Those are the words from Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, who told Sport 360 that his future is in North London.
But fans of the Lilywhites aren’t buying it.
Alderweireld is contracted to the club until 2020, but a bid of £25 million would force Tottenham to sell him for that price this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are five days from a Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid.
And Spurs supporters reckon that his latest comments don’t mean anything in regards to whether he’s going to stay or not.
Of course, if the 30-year-old really wanted to stay then he could simply sign the contract that’s been on the table for well over a year now.
The Belgium international has been a rock for Pochettino down the years but the Argentine manager needs to avoid another transfer saga this summer.
This forthcoming transfer window should be about additions for Tottenham – who haven’t signed a player in 18 months – and not protracted outgoings.
