Tottenham Hotspur will take a 1-0 lead into the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Several Spurs fans have implored the club to give Toby Alderweireld whatever contract he wants after his outstanding performance in the first leg of Tottenham’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will go into the return leg next week looking to build on a 1-0 lead thanks to a second-half goal from Son Heung-min. Harry Kane’s injury may have meant that the evening ended on a somewhat sour note, but another famous night in Spurs’ new home is definitely in the books after their brilliant victory.
In truth, every Tottenham player seemed to step up on a night where they managed to put a dent in Manchester City’s hopes of securing the quadruple this term.
But Alderweireld was arguably one of the stars of the show. The Belgian kept City’s attacking players very quiet, and looked more composed than he perhaps should have been given the stakes and the task handed to him by Pep Guardiola’s side.

For many Tottenham supporters, it was the perfect performance to remind the club how much it is going to hurt to lose the 30-year-old in the summer should he leave.
The Sun reported ahead of the game that he is keen to join Manchester United when his £25 million release clause will be active in the summer. But the Spurs supporters on social media have urged the board to do anything they can to make sure that Alderweireld does not leave at the end of the campaign.
