Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium had it’s grand opening last night with the team marking it with a win.
While the on pitch action did not match the spectacular fireworks off it, three points was the main requirement.
Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld summed this up with a message to fans after the victory.
After his unfortunate own goal against Liverpool, Alderweireld was certainly pleased with keeping a clean sheet.
Tottenham needed it, after a poor run of form, and Manchester City up next in the Champions League.
Heung Min Son and Christian Eriksen scored Tottenham’s goals.
Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham is still uncertain and fans hope the new stadium will help the Belgian decide to stay put.
