Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate to see Toby Alderweireld stay in North London.
There’s only a couple of months left in the season and we’re no closer to knowing what the future holds for Toby Alderweireld at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 29-year-old defender is out of contract at Spurs in 2020 but he now has a £25 million release clause in his deal, according to The Telegraph.
As a result, Tottenham are very vulnerable to losing their star centre-back, who has forged such a brilliant understanding with Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez, this summer.
It seems like the only hope is that Alderweireld will sign a new contract in North London and commit his long-term future to the Lilywhites.
And some fans on Twitter believe that the man himself is in favour of staying, based on his recent comments.
He told the club’s official Twitter channel: “Every game we run so much, put so much effort in.
“Of course you don’t play every game unbelievable, but I think every game we put our heart on the pitch and try to run and give our everything for Spurs, that’s something our team is – physical, running and doing everything for the team.”
Alderweireld, who joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side in 2015, clearly has an affinity for Tottenham, and some fans believe that he wants to stay.
