Tottenham Hotspur miss out on long standing target to Stoke City.
Saido Berahino’s spell as a West Bromwich Albion player is over after he clinched a move to Stoke City.
The BBC reported Berahino’s move has cost Stoke £12 million, just under half the price he was once valued at.
The Mail reported 18 months ago how Tottenham Hotspur had an offer of £25 million turned down by the Baggies, and their gamble did not pay off.

Berahino, their top scorer the year before, sulked and lost form and fitness and fell out of favour, causing his transfer value to depreciate.
This was compounded by his expiring contract, which would have allowed him to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Tottenham’s growth as a club, now competing for the title rather than simply a top four place, saw them ditch interest in a player they were previously ready to bid big for, and allowed Stoke a free run at the striker.
This was despite the fact he had linked up well with Harry Kane at England under-21 level, and that they are low on cover for their main man up front, with Vincent Janssen struggling to adapt.
Here is a look at how Spurs fans reacted to missing out on the striker…
