Tottenham Hotspur secured a place in next season’s Europa League on the final day of the campaign. Jose Mourinho was visibly thrilled but the real work starts now as the transfer window is open.
Spurs need strengthening in multiple areas of the pitch. Jan Vertonghen has left the club while Kyle Walker-Peters is also expected to make a permanent switch to Southampton this summer.
That would leave just Serge Aurier as the club’s right-back and the Ivorian’s performances haven’t quite been consistent enough. A new right full-back will likely be on Mourinho’s agenda for this summer and rightly so.
Spurs have been linked with a number of full-backs over the last few months but none more so than Norwich City’s Max Aarons.
The Daily Mail claimed back in January that Tottenhem were among other clubs interested in signing the young Englishman. Spurs were continued to be linked with Aarons but it now looks like they will miss out.
Sky Germany claim that Bayern Munich have tabled an £18 million bid for Aarons and the Englishman is reportedly interested in a move to Germany if all things go through.
Now that Norwich are relegated, Bayern have a good chance of securing a move for one of England’s highest-rated young defenders. That would be a missed opportunity for Tottenham considering that they could well have made a move if it wasn’t for the current financial climate.
Some Tottenham fans are upset over Bayern Munich’s sudden interest in Aarons. However, other supporters aren’t too fussed about missing out on the youngster with a few even claiming that Walker-Peters is on the same level as the Norwich City star.
