Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with Napoli’s Allan.
Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new midfielder, and a host of names have been linked for January – even with Moussa Sissoko suddenly starring in Mauricio Pochettino’s engine room.
Mousa Dembele is expected to move on in 2019 with his contract coming to an end next summer, whilst confusion surrounds the future of Victor Wanyama, who has become something of a forgotten man over the last year.
Spurs appear to be keen on adding a physical, box-to-box midfielder despite Sissoko’s resurgence, as the likes of Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele and Napoli’s Amadou Diawara have been mentioned.
Now though, Tottenham are being linked with a different Napoli star, as Calcio Napoli 24 report that Spurs are keen to land Brazilian midfielder Allan, and are prepared to offer around €40million (£35million) for his signature.
Allan, 27, has become of the top midfielders in Italian football since leaving Vasco da Gama for Udinese in 2012, earning himself a move to Napoli in 2015, where he has now racked up more than 150 appearances.
He finally became a Brazilian international this year, and whilst Spurs may hope to sign him, Napoli are believed to be putting block on any exit for their non-stop midfielder.
Spurs fans have unsurprisingly taken to Twitter to react, with many believing that Allan would be an ‘amazing’ signing, but they have doubts that Napoli would sell – or that Daniel Levy would pay up what would be needed to sign him.
Many feel there is no chance of a deal, or suggested that Spurs should offer up £20million and Mousa Dembele to try and secure a deal, with others joking that he would just be good over for Sissoko right now.
