Tottenham Hotspur have made a signing, but it isn’t quite what fans would have expected.

Spurs, who haven’t signed a single player in 14 months after failing to recruit anybody in January or last summer, have reportedly added a West Ham United outcast to their ranks.

According to All Nigeria Soccer, Tottenham have signed midfielder Ferdinand Okoh after his release by the Hammers.

Here’s how fans of the North London club reacted to his reported capture:

The report from All Nigeria Soccer added that Okoh has made ‘remarkable progress’ and that his contract is a short-term one, with his future still dependent on how much he impresses Spurs’ youth coaches.

Okoh, according to the report, has a ‘good range of passing’ and is noted for his capacity to break up attacks, putting him in the Victor Wanyama mould.

It remains to be seen if the Nigerian midfielder ever makes the grade with the Lilywhites, but the good news is that he’s at the right club.

If Okoh is made of the right stuff, he’ll catch Mauricio Pochettino’s attention eventually and the Argentine is a manager who isn’t afraid to reward youth with first-team chances, evident by the fact that 18-year-old Oliver Skipp is a regular of Pochettino’s senior squad now.
