Tottenham fans react to reported target’s £30m price-tag

Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful start to this summer’s transfer window. Spurs have already completed the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart and, if reports are to be believed, they aren’t done just yet.

One key addition Jose Mourinho needs to make this summer is a new striker. Harry Kane is Tottenham’s undisputed number one up top and no new arrival will change that.

However, the Englishman has had his fair share of problems with injuries which is a big concern. Kane being sidelined last season put Spurs under a lot of pressure up front as they had no natural replacement.

Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura did their best in an unnatural position for them but, without an out-and-out number nine, Spurs’ struggles were evident.

Tottenham need to bring in a backup to Kane this summer and it looks like they have a player in mind. Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson is on their shortlist this summer but the Cherries have slapped a £30 million price-tag on his head (Daily Mail).

Is Wilson really worth £30 million?

Wilson is undoubtedly a top striker on his day and is more than capable of filling in for Kane when required next season. However, the Englishman is already 28 and has a worrying injury record which has scared top clubs away before.

Bournemouth aren’t in the Premier League anymore, which will likely dent their players’ value in the transfer market. A £30 million valuation might just be a bit too ambitious in this window and Spurs fans don’t seem too worried.

Tottenham supporters are confident that Daniel Levy’s excellent negotiation skills will bring the price down considerably, just like it did when Southampton initially demanded £35 million for Hojbjerg (Daily Mail) but eventually ended up settling for £15 million (Sky Sports).
