The Tottenham Hotspur star has just one year left on his current deal.
Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen a new £200,000 per week deal, according to a report from the Daily Mail, and some Spurs fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The Dane’s current contract worth £80,000 per week expires in the summer of 2020, so Spurs need to either sell him this summer, or tie him down to a new deal.
Eriksen, 27, has been a magnificent player for Tottenham, since moving to north London from Ajax in the summer of 2013, racking up 66 goals and 86 assists in 277 appearances in all competitions in the process.
The Denmark international makes Tottenham tick, so keeping him at the club for the foreseeable future would be a really big boost for Mauricio Pochettino.
Spurs are expected to make a real challenge for the Premier League title next season, and having Eriksen at the club will greatly enhance their chances of doing just that.
