Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier is hardly a key player, and yet he’s attracting very lofty interest – to the bemusement of Spurs fans.
The Ivorian is Spurs’ first-choice right back, but has never really shown the consistency to suggest that it’s his role for good.
This summer, Aurier enters the final year of his contract, and it looks like Tottenham will cash in on the player they signed for £23million in 2017.
Rumours of a return to Paris Saint-Germain were stunning enough, but now it’s Real Madrid being linked with Aurier.
Foot Mercato claim that Real are exploring a cut-price deal for Aurier, and he’s already talking to Raphael Varane about the move having played together at RC Lens.
Tottenham fans, unsurprisingly, can’t quite believe it.
They’ve been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, with many queueing up to drive Aurier to Madrid if the reports are true.

Others are urging Tottenham to get a deal done as quickly as possible, believing they should make it happen and get the cash in for their own summer business.
Some even think the rumours must be a joke, questioning just why Real would want to sign a player that isn’t even shining at Tottenham.
