Tottenham Hotspur have provided updates on the fitness of several players ahead of Friday night’s FA Cup third round clash against Tranmere Rovers.

Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Erik Lamela and Victor Wanyama have all suffered from injuries over the past few weeks, testing Mauricio Pochettino’s mettle at a busy time for the club.

That said, Spurs have coped relatively well in December, beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and getting a draw away at Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Premier League was more of a mixed bag, however, with some solid wins against the likes of Everton, Bournemouth and Cardiff, but losses to the Gunners and Wolves.

Therefore, the latest injury update from the Spurs camp will provide Poch with a huge boost as the season continues to take its toll on increasingly tired legs and minds.

Dembele and Vertonghen, who have been nursing ankle and thigh injuries respectively, returned to training with the squad on Thursday, though they still remain unavailable.

Dier, recovering from an appendicitis operation, commenced on-field reconditioning, while Victor Wanyama is continuing outdoor rehabilitation following a knee injury.

As for Lamela, he returned to training with the squad on Wednesday following a calf injury but is unavailable for the Rovers game due to illness.
