Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be in the market for another midfielder this summer, and all eyes have been on RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austrian has been touted as Jose Mourinho’s top midfield target for many months now, and with just over a year left on his Leipzig deal, a move seems plausible.
Yet what if Spurs go for one of Sabitzer’s teammates instead?
That’s what Foot Mercato are now reporting, as they claim that Spurs have shown a real interest in signing Leipzig ace Christopher Nkunku, battling Arsenal for his signature.
The Frenchman is a wanted man, with Barcelona also believed to be keen on signing him this summer.
Nkunku, 23, has notched seven goals and eight assists in 32 games across all competitions this season, whilst racking up 53 key passes in the Bundesliga; fourth best in the league.

Formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, Nkunku has really kicked on in Germany, and has shown versatility to play as a central midfielder, number 10 or even wing back.
Spurs fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, urging Spurs to get a deal done now because Nkunku is an ‘excellent’ player.
Others think Nkunku is indeed better than Sabitzer, and would love to see him arrive in North London – especially if it meant Julian Nagelsmann following him.
