Tottenham Hotspur boosted their hopes of finishing third in the Premier League with a 2-0 win at Wembley.
A number of Tottenham fans have taken to social media to criticise Mousa Dembele’s performance during their 2-0 victory over Watford which increases the daylight between themselves and Chelsea and leaves Spurs just one point back of Liverpool in third.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were certainly not at their best at Wembley, and were relying on a goalkeeper error to break the deadlock with Dele Alli sliding the ball home after 16 minutes.
Harry Kane would double Tottenham’s lead shortly after the break to take his tally for the campaign to 27 top flight goals and ensure that Spurs bagged the three points.
It was not a performance that is likely to live long in Tottenham fans’ memories, but it was enough to secure the win and ensure that they remain on course to bag another top four finish.
One of those who was arguably under-par was Dembele, who had to be replaced shortly after the hour-mark due to an injury. There were several supporters on Twitter who felt that his display confirmed that Spurs need to consider selling the Belgian at the end of the season, as he desperately struggled to retain the ball.
The fans are concerned that the 30-year-old is no longer the influential star that he was in the middle of the park in previous years, and feel that the summer may be the right time to move him on.
