Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with both Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile.
Tottenham Hotspur will be busy preparing for Monday’s Premier League clash with Watford, but speculation suggests that summer transfer targets are being lined up.
Spurs are still on course for a top four finish and subsequent qualification for the Champions League despite some patchy results of late, and it promises to be a crucial summer for the club.
Not only are Tottenham moving into their new stadium, but Pochettino may lose experienced players such as Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele, and they would need to be replaced.
With fans hoping for major additions for both reasons above, it’s interesting that The Mirror report Tottenham want to launch a £100million double swoop for Lazio duo Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile.
Midfielder Milinkovic-Savic, 23, has become one of Europe’s top young midfielders with Lazio, and the Serbian – who looks set to star at the World Cup – has hit 12 goals and six assists whilst thriving as a box-to-box midfielder, making him a potentially ideal Dembele successor.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old striker Immobile has hit a staggering 41 goals in 45 games this season, and would offer Tottenham another potent goalscorer alongside Harry Kane.
Given the figures involved and the stats of both players, it’s no surprise that Tottenham fans have been taking to Twitter to offer their reaction to the rumour, with many suggesting that the pair would be great signings, but don’t believe chairman Daniel Levy would sanction a deal.
Others believe that Tottenham are far more likely to end up signing West Brom’s Salomon Rondon than Immobile, and simply won’t compete for top names like Milinkovic-Savic unless Levy completely changes his approach.
