Mauricio Pochettino claimed today that Tottenham Hotspur have made ‘amazing progress’ this season.

Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have questioned Mauricio Pochettino’s comments in a pre-match press conference today.
Speaking via Football London, Pochettino claimed that his Spurs side, who could still finish outside the top four, have made ‘amazing progress’ this season.
Tottenham lost 1-0 at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday to cap a miserable couple of weeks, having also been beaten by Manchester United in an FA Cup semi-final last month.
The Lilywhites were eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage, having been group-stage casualties last term, and the Argentine manager, whose side are fourth in the Premier League, suggests that there has been a lot of positives for the North Londoners this season.

“For me, amazing progression. First of all because you need to compare every season in context, not out of context,” he told Football London.
“If you analyse all in context I think it’s an amazing season – to have the possibility with two games left to finish third, I think it’s massively successful. But I understand people want more. We want more. We’re ambitious.”
But it seems as if Tottenham fans are reluctant to go along with that narrative. Here is how they reacted to Pochettino’s comments:
Spurs, who were runners-up to Premier League champions Chelsea last time around, finished with 86 points after 38 games last term. This season, they have 71 points after 36 games, and their final two matches are home to Newcastle tomorrow and Leicester City this weekend.
Pochettino’s troops, who used Wembley as their adopted home this season, have won five less games and lost three more in comparison to the 2016-17 campaign so far.
