Former Tottenham Hotspur starlet Marcus Edwards came back firing on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old Spurs product, who left North London for Portugal in September, rescued a point for Vitoria last night.

The Primeira Liga side drew 2-2 with Sporting Lisbon and it was the former Tottenham sensation – who Mauricio Pochettino once likened to Lionel Messi – that scored on 68 minutes to equalise.

Here’s how Lilywhites fans reacted to the goal on Twitter:

If Edwards lives up to his potential then he could go on to big, big things.

As mentioned, Pochettino once compared the youngster to Messi in something that the Argentine later admitted was a mistake due to the pressure that it put on Edwards.

But there’s no denying his ability in spite of a failed loan spell at Norwich City a couple of years ago, in which the player was accused of having an attitude problem.

The good news for Tottenham is that if he ever does hit the big time and get a big move away, the Premier League side will receive 50 percent of whatever Vitoria sell him for.
