Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luke Amos has been ruled out for the rest of the season, the Evening Standard report.

Amos was reportedly set to feature in Tottenham’s matchday squad against Barcelona this evening.

Amos suffered a torn ACL in Friday’s under-23 game versus Blackburn Rovers and is set to undergo knee surgery.

The youngster impressed in pre-season games on the US tour and showed he can be a viable back up option for Spurs.

He made his Premier League debut on the first day of the season against Newcastle United as a late substitute.

Tottenham fans were gutted to learn of Amos’ injury, a worst case scenario for a young midfielder breaking into the team.

Amos entered the summer out of the picture and worked hard to get into the reckoning. Now his task is even tougher.

From a practical perspective, Tottenham have lost a valuable back up at a time when first team players like Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele are struggling with injuries.

It makes strengthening in January even more of a priority, which again will make Amos’ task next summer when he recovers, a lot harder.
