Tottenham Hotspur could welcome the Oakland Raiders to their new stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur haven’t even moved into their new stadium yet, but may already be striking a deal for another team to play there.
Spurs were expected to move into their new home in September, but delays mean that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are still at Wembley Stadium.
A new proposed move-in date of January has already been ruled out too, meaning fans still don’t know when Spurs will be in their new stadium.
Intriguingly though, a deal for another team to play there could be imminent. The Daily Mail report that the Oakland Raiders could end up sharing the stadium in 2019.
The Raiders are relocating to Las Vegas, with the Las Vegas Stadium being built for the Raiders to play their home games in from the 2020 NFL season onwards.
That means that they are without a home for next season, and whilst the Sam Boyd Stadium in Nevada is one option, Spurs is now another.
Tottenham’s new stadium has a retractable NFL field for International Series games, but could now strike an unprecedented deal to allow the Raiders to play all their home games there next season.
Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react, suggesting that chairman Daniel Levy isn’t messing around and could earn the club a huge amount of money with such a deal, though others feel he has got his priorities all wrong and think it’s comical that the club are inviting another team to play there when Spurs haven’t even kicked off there.
