Tottenham Hotspur were quiet on transfer deadline day, with Paulo Gazzaniga’s loan move to Elche the only real first-team exit.
Spurs did have interest in some of their players though, with Dele Alli wanted by Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that Spurs just wouldn’t sanction.
There was also interest in Japhet Tanganga, with the defender wanted on loan by three clubs before Monday’s deadline.
The Athletic report that Celtic, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion all wanted to take Tanganga on loan until the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho blocked Tanganga from leaving though, feeling that he needed to keep him in North London.
His versatility to play anywhere across the back four is very valuable, especially with the global pandemic still ongoing and affecting squad depth.

Tanganga has become a first-team player under Mourinho, but Spurs fans seem confused by the decision not to loan him out given that he hasn’t played a single minute of league action this term.
Spurs supporters have taken to Twitter to urge Mourinho to play Tanganga if he isn’t going to let him go and play out on loan somewhere, believing that he could be an answer at right back.
