Jan Vertonghen suggested that he loves playing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, when speaking to reporters today, insisting that Tottenham is the best club to play for at the moment.

The Belgium international, 32, joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2012, for a fee believed to be worth £12 million, according to BBC Sport, and he has gone on to make 286 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.

He is an incredibly popular figure amongst Tottenham fans, and he is undoubtedly one of Pochettino’s leader son the pitch.

Vertonghen has just one year remaining on his current deal with Spurs, however, and that will be a real worry for the club’s fans.

The experienced centre-back hinted that he would like to stay at Tottenham for the foreseeable future, though, when speaking to reporters today, as quoted by the London Evening Standard:

“I love being here. I feel great with the manager, he’s been supporting me and making me a better player. I’ve got everything I want. It’s the best club to play for at the moment.”
