Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t accepting Hugo Lloris’s explanation of what happened at Anfield.
The France goalkeeper is public enemy number one at Tottenham yet again after his error led to Liverpool scoring a stoppage-time winner on Sunday.
Lloris failed to catch a routine corner from Mo Salah and the fumble bounced off Toby Alderweireld’s shin and crossed the line in added time.
It was the latest in a series of madcap moments from the Spurs captain this season.
Here is how Lloris explained the error. He told Sky Sports: “I tried to catch the ball twice but unfortunately there was no bounce, it bounced straight to the shin of Toby.
“And then what happened happened. The luck was probably on the opponent’s side.”
But Tottenham fans aren’t buying the rationale.
It was only last month that Lloris reminded Lilywhites fans of his value by saving a last-minute penalty to deny Arsenal a North London derby win at Wembley.
But the truth is that he is far too inconsistent, which isn’t exactly a desireable trait from your goalkeeper, and time will tell if Mauricio Pochettino keeps him in.
The North Londoners christen their new stadium on Wednesday with a visit of Crystal Palace.
