Well, Tottenham Hotspur’s contest with Leicester City is looking relatively promising.

Tottenham’s last two matches across all competitions had been postponed following aworrying coronavirus crisis in North London.

Spurs closed their Hotspur Way training facilities last week following a series of outbreaks, with quite a number of senior players – and coaching staff – returning positive covid tests.

As a result, the Lilywhites’ Premier League outing with Leicester this week was in some doubt.

But the Evening Standard reported on Tuesday that the outlook was significantly more positive – so to speak – after Tottenham re-opened the first-team departments at Hotspur Way.

For the past three days, manager Antonio Conte has been training with a ‘skeleton squad’ – or a reduced number of players – in the hope that they could field a starting eleven at the King Power Stadium this week.

Here’s how Tottenham supporters reacted to this development on Twitter:

Important

It’s very important that the Italian manager gets his players back as soon as possible.

Even before this outbreak, Tottenham had played one less game than 18 other Premier League sides when their visit to Burnley was postponed due to snow.

Ideally, the Lilywhites won’t, under any circumstances, want to begin 2022 with a heap of games-in-hand.

Remember, Tottenham could be six points adrift in the race for a Champions League qualification spot by tonight if West Ham United win.

And although Conte’s side would have three games in hand, you’d much rather have the points rather than the spare matches, wouldn’t you?

However, Thursday’s clash with Leicester City would represent a sense of normality again for Tottenham Hotspur and thankfully, it seems that the Londoners are heading in the right direction toward getting their season back on track.

At the moment, Spurs are seventh in the Premier League standings, three points behind fourth-placed West Ham.
