Tottenham Hotspur defeated West Ham United this weekend but how did the England international get on?

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier may have been a regular in the gossip columns over the summer, but he remains an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
The 23-year-old has started all six of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season, as well as their Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund, and he looks set to be one of the first names on the team sheet for some time to come.

Tottenham’s win came courtesy of two goals from top-scorer Harry Kane and one from Christian Eriksen, and while West Ham’s late fightback and a dismissal for summer signing Serge Aurier left Spurs shaken, they managed to hold on for another huge three points.
Dier was included in what some branded an experimental midfield duo alongside the much-maligned Moussa Sissoko, and while Pochettino should really know what works and what doesn’t at this stage of his Spurs tenure, the England international did his best to control the game.

Dier has featured 143 times for Tottenham and given his age and his talent he could become one of the club’s all-time greats if he sticks around for the long term.
