Tottenham Hotspur will take on Liverpool this weekend without Dele Alli after he picked up an injury.

A number of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club confirmed on their official website today that Dele Alli will miss Saturday’s clash with Liverpool due to a hamstring injury.

Alli will miss the game at Wembley after sustaining the problem while with England during the international break. He joins goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on the sidelines, with the Frenchman reportedly set to miss several weeks due to a thigh injury.

It will be a big blow for Spurs to lose Alli for the game against the Reds. The youngster has made an impressive start to the new season, and Son Heung-min – who would perhaps be the obvious replacement in an ideal world – has only just returned from a gruelling run of games with South Korea.

It would be a big surprise if Son went straight into the starting lineup against Liverpool. And instead a number of fans have suggested that Pochettino either switches formation to compensate for Alli’s absence, or hands Erik Lamela the chance to impress.

Several supporters believe that Tottenham not having Alli is a major setback and have hinted that they now see Liverpool as the favourites for the clash at Wembley.

But Tottenham will be more than aware that winning Saturday’s game without the likes of Lloris and Alli will lay a real marker down regarding Spurs’ title aspirations this term, especially as their opponents are yet to drop a point so far.
