The Tottenham Hotspur youngster turned out for the second half against the Italian club.

Tottenham Hotspur could not maintain their winning start to pre-season, as a late flurry of goals saw them lose 3-2 to Roma in the United States in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were 2-0 down with just three minutes of normal-time remaining, but somehow they clawed their way back courtesy of strikes from Harry Winks and Vincent Janssen to seemingly take a share of the spoils.

However Roma had other ideas, with Marco Tumminello scoring what proved to be the winner just a minute after the Dutchman’s equaliser.

While Tottenham were left disappointed by the result there were still positives to take from the match, not least the performance of 20-year-old Anthony Georgiou.

The player has featured 28 times for Tottenham’s under-23 side to date, providing seven assists in the process, and the versatile youngster did not let his first-team opportunity go to waste.

A left-sided midfielder who can also operate at left-back if required, Georgiou has been making waves with Tottenham’s second string for some time now and, along with Tashan Oaklay-Boothe, he is doing his best to force his way into Pochettino’s first-team plans this summer.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Spurs fans thought of Georgiou’s 45-minute run-out and you can read a selection of what we found below:
