Andros Townsend did former club Tottenham Hotspur a big favour today.
The former Spurs winger made headlines for his stunning volley in Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win away to Premier League champions Manchester City.
Townsend, who began his career at Tottenham, fired his team into a 2-1 lead on 35 minutes, unleashing an unstoppable volley which left Ederson with no chance.
As a result, Mauricio Pochettino’s side could move within two points of City if they beat Everton tomorrow.
Here’s how fans of the North London club reacted to the peach:
It is of course a big favour, but Tottenham are not chasing Man City. They are chasing Liverpool, who are nine points ahead of them at the summit of the table.
Pochettino’s side simply must beat Everton tomorrow to stand any chance of winning the title because Liverpool – still unbeaten – might not drop nine points on this form.
