Everton’s Andre Gomes starred in Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool.

Everton may have lost 1-0 at Liverpool in dramatic circumstances on Sunday, but one player in blue who really impressed was Andre Gomes.
The Toffees were superb at Anfield and could really have won it, with Gomes having a header saved from point-blank range in the first half, but an error from Jordan Pickford in injury time allowed Divock Origi to score a bizarre winner.
Everton came out of the game with huge credit having impressed at Anfield, and Gomes was at the heart of their superb display with a fine performance in the middle of midfield.
The Portuguese international, 25, is currently on loan at Everton from Barcelona having made an August move to Goodison Park, and it took until October for him to get his first start.
However, Gomes is now starting every game for Everton and flourishing under compatriot Marco Silva, with even rival fans dazzled by his brilliance in midfield.

For around a year before his move to Everton, Gomes was strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with The Mirror noting their interest back in April, just months before his switch to Merseyside.
Now, Spurs fans have been taking to Twitter to admit that they wish Gomes had signed for them instead, praising his performance whilst cursing Tottenham’s inability to sign him, feeling that the club have really missed a trick – though given that he is only on loan, there is of course a chance that Spurs can still land him in 2019.
