Tottenham Hotspur cut the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea to just seven points as they beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs made the trip to East Lancashire in search of another three points to keep the pressure on Chelsea, and with the Blues losing 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace, Tottenham took full advantage.
After a frustrating first half in which Harry Winks suffered what looked to be a serious ankle injury, Spurs took the lead in the second period, with Eric Dier converting from close range after Burnley failed to clear a corner.
In the 77th minute, Dele Alli broke away down the right hand side, crossing for Son Heung-min to tap home from close range and seal a comfortable 2-0 victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
With Harry Kane on his way back from injury, Spurs will be hoping to keep chipping away at Chelsea’s lead, with Pochettino so far coping well without his star striker.
On Saturday, Pochettino gave a start to striker Vincent Janssen, who has endured a difficult first season at White Hart Lane having scored just five goals since signing from AZ Alkmaar last summer.

Only one of those goals has come from open play, and with just one Premier League goal to his name, it was something of a surprise to see the 22-year-old make just his sixth league start of the season, featuring ahead of Son.
During and after the game, Spurs fans took to Twitter to suggest that Janssen put in a good shift against Burnley, praising his effort and his hold-up play in a committed performance from the Dutch international.
However, others believe that Janssen may not be around for long, thinking that Pochettino will sell him this summer, despite the popular notion that he enjoyed a strong performance against Burnley.
